No time to play games

I hope that in the next two weeks the Republican party members of our Congress will stand tall and be the leaders we expect them to be. This country has dug itself into a huge hole. It is not the fault of the previous president or the one before him. It is our fault. We want it all. We buy homes we cannot afford and use home equity loans to buy things we do not need. Cut someone else's benefits, leave our Social Security and home mortgage deduction alone.

There is only one way out. Common sense and compromise. Cut spending and increase revenue. The president has offered the spending cuts, now the Republican members of our Congress must compromise and offer revenue increases. Each party can do what it hates the most.

I hope for a perfect compromise. Both political parties are unhappy, but this country, and people like myself and my family and friends, will win.

My concern is that the members of the House and Senate will let ideology interfere with governing our country. If that occurs we all lose. I have no desire for a double dip recession or depression, and have no use for those who play dangerous games that could cause either to occur.
