KELSO, Mo. -- Charles E. Compas, 86, of Kelso died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Barathaven in O'Fallon, Mo.
He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Kelso, to Ben and Sophia Scherer Compas.
Compas was a high lift operator with Crown Cork and Seal in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.
Survivors include a son, Thomas (Brenda) Compas of Wentzville, Mo.; two granddaughters, Sherry and Heather Compas of Wentzville; two brothers, Arnold Compas of South Bend, Ind., Irvin Compas of Chaffee, Mo.; and a sister, Lorena Himmelsbach of Morristown, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
