Distribution center in Joplin accepting all donations

Thursday, May 26, 2011

A distribution point at College Heights Christian Church in Joplin, Mo., is where State Emergency Management Agency officials are requesting all donations be taken for tornado victims.

A spokeswoman for SEMA said Wednesday morning that while SEMA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency continue working to secure a lease for a warehouse, donors should direct items to the distribution center at College Heights, which is being managed by Convoy of Hope of Springfield, Mo.

According to the College Heights website, items being collected are nonperishable foods, toiletries and bedding. Supplies of toilet paper, tarps, laundry detergent, condiments, pillows, towels, coffee, tea, sugar, powdered/flavored drinks and denture products are all running low.

Small loads are accepted at the church and all semi-trucks or box trucks containing palletized material will be directed to the Crossroads Transportation warehouse three miles east of College Heights on Newman Road.

The distribution center is opened from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
