Sectional track roundup: Central boys track team wins three sectional crowns

Central won three titles and Jackson captured two during Saturday's Class 4 Sectional 1 meet at Lafayette High School in St. Louis.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the Class 4 state meet Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.

Sectional winners for Central, all on the boys side, were Matt Deisher in the pole vault, Chris Martin in the triple jump and Zach Horrell in the discus.

Jackson got victories from Blake Smith in the boys long jump and Paden Wachter in the girls discus.

Asia Thomas, the defending 400-meter girls state champion, qualified in the 100, 200 and 400.

Central's boys were seventh out of 21 schools in the team standings. Jackson placed 11th.

Jackson's girls finished ninth and Central was 11th.

Class 3 Sectional 1

Notre Dame's Duncan Ross won the pole vault to lead three qualifiers from his school during the Class 3 Sectional 1 meet at Lutheran South High School in St. Louis.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the Class 3 state meet Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.

Notre Dame's boys had the highest team finish among local squads, placing 11th out of 22 schools.
