Old Fire Station #1 has a secret garden built by firemen to beautify the fire Station many years ago. Firemen would rest from the heat under the shade tree and watch the people who arrived and departed the bus station located behind the fire station. The museum director Marjorie Thompson noticed the garden need some TLC and soon Kim McDowell and her sister Wendy Rust volunteered to spruce it up. For twenty years Kim would weed, plant, and oversee the beautification of this secret garden. Please join us and bring your friends this week as we honor local authors, museum supporters and unveil a tribute in memory of our friend Kim McDowell. Kim lovingly for twenty years tended the firemen's garden. The volunteers have been busy preparing for a Garden Party Sunday May 22, 1:30p.m. A special treat will be provided by Marjorie Thompson who served a museum director putting the finishing touches on a pictorial history of our museum, volunteers and events.
