'Pulling the race card'

In his letter to the editor, Dr. Kamath coins a term for a new mental disease he calls "birther disorder." According to him, this is a form of conversion disorder, and anyone asking President Obama to document his ability to meet the constitutional stipulations for presidency are really just "covert racists" converting their true motives into something that sounds more legitimate. However, he fails to recognize another form of conversion disorder that is a thousand times more prevalent and one that he is guilty of himself. Let me coin a term for it. It's called "ethnic minority immune disorder" (EMID).

EMID is a subcategory of a better known disorder that exists in our society known as "pulling the race card." In his letter, EMID is being used to negate any doubt or criticism about Obama by claiming racism. This example reveals people suffering from EMID don't seem to be able to draw parallels between regular people who have to produce birth certificates for various things (like getting a driver's license) and having to produce one to be president of the United States.

Dr. Kamath is so quick to pull the race card to defend his ethnic hero he misses the point as to why there is even a birther issue to begin with. It's not because someone asked Obama for some proof because they have that right. It's because Obama has always refused to give it. There's a lot about Obama that is mysterious and wrong, and people have a right to ask questions.
