Jackson High School band members competed April 8 at the Heritage Music Festival in Chicago, Ill. They competed against other high schools from various states. Each group performed two to three pieces for three judges. After the performance, a judge gave a short clinic to the ensemble consisting of comments, critiques, and suggestions for improvement. The Wind Symphony received Gold ratings and the Adjudicator's Award for earning a score of 92 or higher. The symphony also received a trophy for having the highest combined score from any one school.
