The National Water Safety Congress recognized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake and Burger King's Midwest corporate office for promoting public safety. Burger Kings in Festus, Poplar Bluff, Cape Girardeau and Perryville, Mo., Jonesboro and Blytheville in Ark., and Marion, Ill., displayed graphics on digital marquees and messages printed on customer receipts saying, "Buckle up and save lives. Be safe in the water. Wear your life jackets." and "Wear it -- life jackets and seat belts save lives."
