"Spring Showers" will be coming to Cape Girardeau.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO- April 28, 2011- Spring Showers is designed to complement Southeast Missouri Food Bank's BackPacks For Friday program that sends home a backpack full of nutritious food each weekend to over 300 students in Southeast Missouri who need additional food for their families. "Spring Showers" is a new community wide campaign to collect personal hygiene products that will be provided to children participating in the Backpack feeding program.

Local volunteers will be distributing bags to residences throughout Cape Girardeau during the last week of April. The bags will contain a list of items being collected and a list of drop off locations. Bags can be returned throughout the first week of May or donors may call Southeast Missouri Food Bank to arrange a time to pick up their donated products.

-Shampoo-Conditioner-Mouthwash
-Bar Soap-Shower Gel-Hand Sanitizer
-Floss-Toilet Paper-Facial Tissue
-Cotton Balls-Q-Tips-Face Wash
-Body Lotion-Vaseline-Brush or Comb

Drop off locations include: Alliance Bank (217 N. Kingshighway), First Church of the Nazarene (2601 Independence), La Croix United Methodist Church (3102 Lexington Ave) & Southeast Missouri Food Bank (3920 Nash Road)

Bag Distribution: April 25-30th Bag Collections: May 1-7th

Southeast Missouri Food Bank hopes to expand "Spring Showers" to other communities where the Backpack for Friday's program has been implemented next year.
