Missouri National Guard's Sisk earns promotion

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Corey Sisk, of East Prairie, was recently promoted from the rank of private to private first class in the Missouri Army National Guard.

Sisk has been with the National Guard for one year. He is a military policeman with Headquarters Company, 1140th Engineer Battalion in Cape Girardeau.

"I'm very pleased with my promotion," said Sisk. "It's a great honor for the unit to recognize me when I've been here only a few months. I will continue to work hard and earn the respect of my fellow Soldiers."

Capt. Juan Valencia, Sisk's unit commander, said he's very proud of Sisk.

"I have full confidence in his abilities to take on new responsibilities and challenges," said Valencia. "This marks the beginning of a hopefully many more to come for him. Promotions are very special moments in a military career. I know he'll rise to the challenge of working towards his next rank."

Sisk is supported in his military career by his wife Holly, their children Anna and Katie and his parents Teddy and Nika Sisk, of East Prairie. He is a 2008 graduate of East Prairie High School, and works for Pepsi Mid America.
