Copperheads Defeat Apaches 44-27

Come out and Support your SEMO Copperheads as they are 3-0 leading there division and, one of the leaders in the Conference

After a freezing cold game in Archie MO, the week before, the SEMO Copperheads caught a break in the weather this past Saturday April 2nd going up against there next door neighboring team the Jackson Apaches. This was a highly anticipated battle as the Copperheads where coming off of a victory in last weeks game against the West Central Warriors bettering there record to a undefeated 2-0, tensions where high because of the rivalry between the two cities being so close to each other, but on that beautiful Saturday only one team would be able to take home bragging rights until the end of the season when they meet again.

The game was an all out air assault lead by QB Chase Johnson who was 12-24 for 237 yards and, threw for 6 TD. Eddie Calvin had 2 receiving touchdowns Tim Grissom also had 2 TD receiving, Vaughn Shepard tip toed his way into the endzone for a score, and Ian Fitzgerald had a great catch for his very first touchdown this season. On the ground Hykeem Hammonds drilled a 3 yard run in on a second chance push to put the first 6 points on the board. All-in-All on the offensive side of the ball the Copperheads looked like a team of seasoned veterans rather then a first year team.

On the defensive side of the ball the Copperheads did a great job stopping the run with a total of 42 solo team talks and 17 assist lead by SS Jeremiah Dukes, and Linebacker Jason Mercer, Dukes also had an interception along with John carter which is a major accomplishment considering how many passes the Apaches threw in this "City Showdown". This brings the Copperheads to a 3-0 record still leading there division and also top 2 in there conference with several players leading the league in there statistical positions. The Copperheads led by Coach David Hutch and David Bertrand are in there first season in the Central Plains Football league and are having stellar season considering most teams go through a "trial and error" period before being able to see some success, but Hutch and Bertrand keep there plays motivated, disciplined and conditioned for any situations which is why its no surprise to some this team is undefeated.
