James "Reccie" Taylor, 43, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Ratliff Caring Center.
He was born Feb. 28, 1967, in Helena, Ark., son of James C. Taylor of West Helena, Ark., and the late Jacqulyn Brashear Taylor.
Taylor was a lifelong member of Church of God of Prophecy. He worked for barge lines and concrete construction, and was a skilled musician and songwriter.
He and Julie Perry were married June 26, 1998.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his stepmother, Mary Taylor of West Helena; two sons, Christopher Taylor of Selena, Kan., Joseph Taylor of Abilene, Kan.; two daughters, Lydia Taylor and Kaylee Taylor of the home; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin and Delbert Word of Las Cruces, N.M., Melissa and John Jones of Mountain Home, Ark., Angela and Tommy Raines of Judsonia, Ark., Monica and Jimmy Lovel of Belen, N.M.; five nephews; three nieces; a great-nephew; and a great-niece.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of service Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo.
The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. John Paul Benning from Church of God of Prophecy in Huntsville, Ala., will officiate.
