Jackson School Board approves evaluation of district's four early childhood programs

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

The Jackson School Board on Tuesday approved an evaluation on the district's early childhood programs.

More than 800 families are involved in Jackson School District's four programs -- Parents as Teachers, Early Childhood Special Education, Title 1 Preschool and "Little Indians," a reverse mainstream preschool program serving students with special needs and their typically developing peers.

The district aims to implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program and increase awareness of intervention opportunities.

Currently 104 children in the district qualify and receive special education services in the early childhood program, with 86 participating in a mainstream or reverse mainstream program.
