Two-car accident on Interstate 55 sends Jackson woman to hospital

A Jackson woman received moderate injuries following a two-car accident in Scott County Monday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 2006 Toyota driven by Christina A. Steffens, 43, was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 55 when it struck another vehicle in the rear at mile marker 76. The driver of the other car, 40-year-old Regina F. Lambert of Sikeston, Mo., was not injured in the accident. Steffens was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Both Steffens and Lambert were wearing seat belts.
