Dan Muser

Many of us enjoy a walk around the Capaha Park lagoon, a night watching a child's baseball game at a local field or a hot summer day at the new water park. And these great opportunities afforded to us are, in part, due to the management of Dan Muser.

Muser, the director of the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, has announced he will be retiring March 11. And after 25 years with the department, 21 of those years at the helm, Cape Girardeau's parks and recreation opportunities have become a tremendous asset to the city.

While recreational opportunities in Cape Girardeau have increased over the years, Muser's dedication to maintaining the city's amenities have helped Cape Girardeau become the visibly attractive city that it is.

Muser's dedication to the city has been widely praised. Current parks board chairman Danny Essner's remarks about Muser may have said it best. "He's been the leader. Every organization has to have a leader and he's been a good one. He's maintained a low profile and he's been one of these guys that get things done behind the scenes," Essner said.

Thank you, Dan Muser, for your dedication to the city's parks and recreation facilities. Cape Girardeau is the beneficiary of your leadership.
