Emerson slips on ice, breaks arm

Friday, January 28, 2011

U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson is recuperating at her Cape Girardeau home this week after slipping on ice and breaking her arm.

Emerson's chief of staff, Jeffrey Connor, said Thursday the Republican congresswoman was injured while preparing to host a dinner Saturday at her home. He said Emerson broke the humerus in her left arm.

Because of the injury, Emerson did not attend President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech earlier this week in Washington, D.C. Connor said she watched the speech, as well as the Republican and the tea party responses, on television.

Does that mean she won't be participating in any meaningful governing? Oh, she wasn't anyway.

I wonder if she has "affordable" health insurance?

-- Posted by grandma73 on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 7:30 AM

I'm positive she wouldn't accept government health care.

Assuming this is a "news" story - it would have been news a week ago when other media outlets reported it.

From what I heard about the speech, she sure didn't miss much!

-- Posted by landlord on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 8:30 AM

-- Posted by obobo on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 8:48 AM

Yeah, she can be a democrat when she's at home with her husband.

-- Posted by Red Devil on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 9:04 AM

Wow!! You people are mean. Have you gotten so wrapped up in politics that you forget she is a human being? Remember, this everything you say WILL be judged by THE Judge.

Rightwingmamma

When was the last time you looked in the mirror? Have seen some very judgemental posts from you towards others on here.

-- Posted by sweet dog on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 10:42 AM

hope joann knows she will be judged by the judge.

-- Posted by obobo on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 11:00 AM

@rightwingwoman

I believe she operates on a plane that would qualify her as sub-human.

typical comments from you too sweet dog!!I'm not the one making caustic remarks. I'm simply stating that people are going a little far with the partisan remarks. I never once said I was perfect!!

-- Posted by agape on Fri, Jan 28, 2011, at 12:30 PM

@rightwingmomma

1. your comments are caustic

2. your comments are partisan

3. you may have not said you're perfect, but you did point out that you believe you're heaven bound and those that you disagree with are not (you even used ALL CAPS to drive your condescension home)

Go pray for the troops and politicians. I'm sure that will fast track you past the pearly gates.

" I'm simply stating that people are going a little far with the partisan remarks". Oh brother coming from someone that has "rightwing" in their posting name. Saw nothing partisan until your remarks started which you are entitled to.

My question is why is this even making news. Was she the only citizen that fell on the ice this past few weeks? Ask anyone in the ER and they can tell you some stories. Now that it has made the news I am thinking of sending a pity donation to her. Maybe a can of chicken noodle soup to help her in this time of need.

Have a nice day momma, from your favorite "sweet" dog.

Let me know when you do i will send a can or two of soup.

sweet dog, you do have a point! When you are a noted personality whther it b e from this area or not, your falls or anything else get more attention. My daughter had a bike wreck and broke her arm THAT didn' get in the news!!

-- Posted by agape on Sat, Jan 29, 2011, at 7:27 AM

Emerson breaks her arm.

Emerson goes to the E.R.

Emerson gets taken immediately to the back to be taken care of.

Emerson doesn't have to wait like everyone else.

Emerson is better than everyone else who does have to wait.

Emerson is just like you and me.

-- Posted by the_eye on Sat, Jan 29, 2011, at 9:24 AM

did she break her arm creating jobs or repealing health care?

-- Posted by obobo on Sat, Jan 29, 2011, at 9:27 AM

When politics becomes a pseudo-religion and people are dehumanized because their politics differs from yours, it is time to take a step back and re-establish perspective. It doesn't matter how many other people you can point to that do the same thing, ANYONE who thinks this way is dead wrong.

where did she break her arm?? slip and fall?? sounds like a lawsuit to me :)

-- Posted by RedShirt on Sun, Jan 30, 2011, at 12:40 PM

You are 100% correct, Mr. Rutledge!!
