High school roundup: St. Vincent girls overtake St. Pius

The St. Vincent girls basketball team trailed by six points entering the fourth quarter Thursday.

The Indians refused to wilt on the road.

Courtney Heberlie hit a 3-pointer and Storm French sank a bucket in the closing minutes to seal the 44-42 win at St. Pius.

Heberlie netted 24 points, while Kali Wingerter added 10 points.

Kayla Seabaugh had eight points, eight rebounds and five steals for the Indians (7-3).

Allison Hobbs also swam a state-cut time in the 100 backstroke for Jackson.

Jackson's 400 freestyle relay of Troxel, Shelby McCord, Morgan Maquire and Hobbs posted a state-cut time.

Anna Esswein took first in the 100 breaststroke for St. Vincent.
