Lyman E. Crites Jr., 84, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Parma, Mo., to Lyman E. and Valle Brown Crites Sr.
He and Marlene Marberry were married March 6, 1970, at Crenshaw, Miss. They have been residents of Cape Girardeau for more than 20 years.
He was an Army veteran, serving in the Philippines during World War II. Mr. Crites was an independent appraiser and adjustor.
He was a member of the VFW Post 3838 and Elks Lodge No. 639 in Cape Girardeau. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Crites of Cape Girardeau; sons Gary Crites of Knoxville, Tenn., and Frankie Turner of Leachville, Ark.; brothers Jim and John Crites of Florida and Bobby Crites of Leachville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. There will be no funeral services at this time.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
