Scott County teens injured in early morning accident

A Tuesday morning accident on Intestate 55 sent two Scott County teenagers to the hospital. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Dakota K. Minner, 16, of Scott City, ran off the road into the median, jumped a ditch and struck an embankment one mile south of Scott City at 3:26 a.m. Minner was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with moderate injuries. A passenger in the car, 18-year-old Kasey M. Coffee of Benton, Mo., was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center with serious injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.
