Jackson budget includes money for capital projects
Monday, December 20, 2010
Following a public hearing tonight, the Jackson Board of Aldermen will vote on a proposed 2011 budget that includes more than $390,000 in capital projects.
The proposed projects include a $20,000 warehouse remodel for the water distribution department, storm-water area inlet repairs for $30,000 and a $19,000 front-deck mower for the parks department.
The capital outlay budget represents about 47 percent of the dollar value of items requested by city departments and officials.
Through special funds and grants, the city will also be financing other capital projects, including street overlay, the South Orchard Road extension, the construction of a second fire station, three patrol cars for the police department and an upgrade of the city's radio equipment.
The city plans on presenting detailed budget information and hearing comments from the audience at the 7:30 p.m. public hearing at Jackson City Hall.
