Scott County Central standout boys basketball player Otto Porter decided against making a commitment during the weeklong early signing period, which ended Wednesday.

Porter, a senior, visited the University of Missouri last weekend but decided not to sign yet, according to Braves coach Kenyon Wright.

"He didn't sign or anything," Wright said. "They were wanting him to. They were disappointed he didn't."

Wright said Porter wants to visit some other universities, including Georgetown of the Big East Conference and the Big 12's Kansas.

"He's got a decision ahead of him and it's up to him what he wants to do," Wright said.

Wright said he's fielded calls from coaches at Indiana, Ole Miss and Temple as well as countless others.

"It's up to him and his family what he wants to do," Wright said.

The Braves open the season Nov. 26 at the Riverbend Classic. Porter helped SCC capture its state-record 14th state championship last season.

"He's just enjoyable to be around," Wright said.
