Burn ban lifted in Cape Girardeau, still on for Cape Girardeau County

Cape Girardeau officials have lifted a burn ban that was in effect due to an extended dry spell with low humidity. In an e-mail Wednesday, the city announced the ban had been lifted, presumably due to current wet conditions. Cape Girardeau County officials said the county's ban was still in place Wednesday, but that rains that night could cancel that ban. According to the city's news release, city residents can now burn vegetative waste, small tree limbs, leaves and garden waste from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as long as winds aren't too high and it isn't foggy.
