Kohl's Department Store in Cape Girardeau recently donated $20,090 to the Kohl's Youth Diabetes Care Network, a service of Southeast Diabetes Center. At the check presentation, from left, are Southeast endocrinologist Wu Wen, MD, PhD; registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator Mary Etta Dunaway, RD, LD, CDE; Mary Burton-Hitt, executive director of the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation; Kohl's store manager David Bortner; Kohl's sales associate Margaret Fields; and registered nurse and certified diabetes educator Janet Stewart, MSA, BSN, RNC, CDE. Kohl's commitment to Southeast Hospital is made possible through the Kohl's CaresŪ cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl's sells $5 books, plush toys and other merchandise. One hundred percent of the net profit benefits children's health and education programs nationwide, including the partnership with Southeast Hospital.
