Hooked on Science: Moving air
What will happen when you blow a stream of air between two balloons suspended from the ceiling? Will they move apart or together?
STEP 1: Inflate two balloons and then tie a string to each balloon.
STEP 2: Suspend the balloons from the ceiling.
STEP 3: Blow a stream of air between the balloons.
The stream of air flowing between the balloons creates less pushing power or less pressure between the balloons. With more pushing power on the sides, the balloons stay together. You can discover more hands-on experiments by going to www.hookedonscience.org.
