Friday, October 15, 2010

The world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring the big band sound to Bedell Performance Hall today. Trombonist Glenn Miller organized a band in the 1930s, and it started playing swing and jazz venues around the country. The orchestra put up hits like "When You Wish Upon a Star," "Chattanooga Choo Choo" and "Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread)." The current Glenn Miller Orchestra formed in 1956 and started touring. Trombonist Larry O'Brien directs the group. Tickets are $30 and $34 at the River Campus box office, 651-2265 or metrotix.com. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. today in the Bedell Performance Hall.
