Dickerson honored

The progress of Southeast Missouri State University can be directly attributed to the tireless efforts of people like Donald Dickerson.

A Southeast graduate, Dickerson was recently honored with the unveiling of a bust sculpture at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus. The bust was installed at the center of the Donald L. Dickerson River Campus Commons.

Dickerson served the university as a member of the board of regents from 1993 to 2005. Eight of those years were spent serving as president of the board.

Dickerson's accomplishments are many. During his time on the board of regents, he supported the push to increase enrollment, to expand opportunities at off-campus learning centers in Southeast Missouri and to construct state-of-the-art facilities -- one facility being the River Campus.

Cape Girardeau now has a state-of-the-art facility for student productions as well as touring companies, in part thanks to Dickerson's determination.

Thank you, Donald Dickerson, for your years of service to Southeast Missouri State University. The university, community and generations to come are the beneficiaries of your efforts.
