MOUNDS, Ill. -- Rosalie Basham, 78, of Mounds passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Karnak, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Ollie Holtzclaw McDonough.
Rosalie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mounds, member and past president of Pulaski County Republican's Women's Club, was past chairman of Pulaski County American Heart Association, and had been a volunteer with Villa Ridge 4-H many years.
She was a former employee with the Meridian School District 101 of Mounds, and served as Pulaski County clerk eight years.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and four brothers.
She and Harold D. Basham were married Aug. 5, 1950, in Corinth, Miss., sharing 60 years together.
Survivors include her husband of Mounds; two sons, Stan Basham of Mounds, Joe David Basham of Metropolis, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Jones of Mounds; a sister, Mary Wells of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Donavan (Cherie) Wright, Sarah (Brandon) Burd, Joe D. Basham II, and Emily Basham; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment will be in Cypress Masonic Cemetery in Cypress, Ill.
