Southeast roundup: Road trip starts poorly for Redhawks soccer team

The Southeast Missouri State soccer team started a stretch of four straight road games with Friday's 1-0 loss at Western Kentucky.
Southeast suffered its third consecutive defeat and fell to 3-4. The Hilltoppers improved to 2-3-2.
WKU scored the only goal in the 25th minute as Mallory Outerbridge recorded her third goal of the season.
That was the only hiccup in a strong performance by Southeast freshman goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon, who tied her season high with six saves.
The Redhawks were outshot 16-13 as they suffered their second shutout loss of the season.
Libby Stout made three stops in goal for WKU.
Southeast plays at Arkansas State today in a 2 p.m. start.
Cross country fourth
The Southeast men's cross country team had a strong showing at Saturday's Vanderbilt Commodore Classic, finishing fourth. Southeast's women were 10th during the meet in Nashville, Tenn.
Senior Chris Loseman led Southeast with a 14th-place finish. His time in the 8K race was 26 minutes, 5.36 seconds. Senior Jason Lumpkin was 17th (26:10.53).
Rounding out the Redhawks' scoring runners were junior Nate Shipley (26:49.92), Dustin Davis (26:52.64) and sophomore Alex Zisser (26:55.78). They were 38th, 39th and 40th, respectively.
On the women's side, senior Monica Noble led the women by finishing 56th, posting a time of 20:07.01 in the 5K race.
Senior Kasey Owens was 61st (20:14.64), junior Liz Speicher 66th (20:26.93), freshman Samantha Thierry 87th (22:13.37) and sophomore Tiffany Mead 88th (22:16.52).
Southeast runners will compete Saturday at the SIU Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.
