Helen Meek, 85, of Macomb, Ill., formerly of Blandinsville, Ill., passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Wesley Village Healthcare Center of Macomb.
She was born Dec. 4, 1924, in McDonough County, Ill., to Gilbert and Hazel Irish Keithley. She married Willis Meek Dec. 6, 1946, at her parents home near Blandinsville. He preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Len (Ken Lincoln) Meek of Millersville; a sister-in-law, Joan Keithley Lindsey of Macomb; a brother-in-law, Wayne Meek of Ohio; several nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol Meek in 1961; two brothers, Lee Keithley and Bud Keithley; and a sister, Gertrude Farris.
Helen lived all her life in the Blandinsville area before moving to Macomb. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper many years, last working at Western Illinois University.
She was a member of Blandinsville United Methodist Church, McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Her interests were her family, friends and volunteer work.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Riley officiating. Burial will be in Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville.
