Letter to the Editor

Potential for more public input

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Thank you for your editorial, "Council comments," that highlighted the rationale behind changing the comments policy for items not on the agenda and encouraged feedback from others if they felt strongly one way or another.

City council study sessions are open to the public and are held at 5 p.m. prior to each city council meeting. Sharing public comments during the study session, regarding items not on the agenda, could become a beneficial process for the community and the council. The more informal atmosphere of the study session might encourage more citizens to visit with the council and voice their concerns. The council welcomes and promotes opportunities for more public input.
