Cape library is treasure house

Sometimes the taxpayer does get his money's worth.

In a time when the taxpayer sometimes gets little service or value for our money, the Cape Girardeau Public Library delivers far above what's expected. The staff provides the widest range of library services for all ages and needs. The library will order the latest new books for you, and will order older books from other libraries through interlibrary loan. With a full range of books, magazines, movie and music disks, computers, newspapers and children's books, the library has something for everyone, and virtually all of it is free for the asking.

That's a deal beyond anything you can get elsewhere.

From Marilyn in the reference department to the women at the front desk, the staff is friendly and always ready to serve above and beyond the call of what you'd expect.

I've used the Cape Girardeau library for more than 50 years. The current library building is the nicest I've ever used, and the staff is the best and most helpful.

The new library electronic technologies from checking out books to returning books to the online website are 21st century all the way.

If you haven't been to the library recently, you owe it to yourself to stop in for a look at what a treasure house of knowledge and entertainment your tax dollars have purchased.

In most other countries you can't buy this at any price. We certainly got our money's worth and then some.

DAVE FARIS, Cape Girardeau
