Jackson Fire Department demonstrates thermal imaging cameras

The Jackson Fire Department demonstrated its new thermal imaging cameras for city officials Monday at its training facility in Jackson. Mayor Barbara Lohr and Alderman Tim Welker, seated, watch a controlled fire, with aldermen Dave Reiminger, Dale Rauh and Mark Dambach behind them. The city received an Assistance to Firefighters grant of $27,900 to purchase three of the cameras with the city providing 5 percent of the cost. Firefighters use the equipment to see the "heat picture" of the scene and to search for victims obscured by smoke.
