Mary L. Gorham, 75, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Springfield, Ill., passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, at her home.
She was born July 2, 1934, in Springfield, to Edgar G. and Pauline Dyer. She married Jesse L. Gorham in 1952 in Paris, Ill.
Gorham was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stanley E. Gorham; two brothers, Eddie Dyer and Tommy Dyer; and a sister, Grace Dyer.
Mary was self-employed. She was a member of House of Hope.
She is survived by two sons, Perry Gorham of Springfield, Rob (Frances) Gorham of Bloomington, Ill.; three daughters, Lori (Paul) Newberry and Glenda (Bob) Gibson of Springfield and Michele Sedlock of Cape Girardeau.
Also two brothers, Butch (Diane) Dyer of Springfield, Gary (Linda) Dyer of Farmington, Ky.; seven sisters, Florence Ishmael of Dyersburg, Tenn., Betty (Dave) Atkinson of Metropolis, Ill., Alice Smock of Grand Chain, Ill., Jean (BJ) Thomas of Melber, Ky., Nora (Don) Baker of Karnak, Ill., Ruth O'Dell and Mable Lay of Springfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home in Springfield.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery in Williamsville, Ill.
