CARBONDALE, Ill. -- P. June Futrell, 71, of Carbondale passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at her home.

She was born June 6, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to to Lawrence and Lona Davis Fingerhut.

June worked at Pagliai's Pizza in Carbondale for many years. She had a deep love for animals of any kind and enjoyed feeding the deer, raccoons and other animals that frequented her yard. She also had a passion for working in her yard. June was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by a son, Hoby Slinkard of Carbondale and significant other Kathy Wolf of Collinsville, Ill.; two daughters, Debbie Slinkard-Johnson and husband Bryon of Peoria, Ill., and Donna Akeman and husband Mark of Alton, Ill.; her mother, Lona Fingerhut of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Brynn (Dustin) Wheetley, Emma Johnson and Mary Rose Wolf-Slinkard; and a great-grandchild, Kylee Wheetley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence F. Fingerhut.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Her cremains will be buried at a later date at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harry Hunter officiating.

Friends may make memorials to Jackson County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
