SEMMA Fun Fly-in for St. Jude's a Success!

Two St. Louis-area pilots, Jason Pearson and Jim Lanzendorf hover a biplane for the crowd at the SEMMA Fun Fly-in on Saturday.

The Southeast Missouri Modelers Association held a Fun Fly-in to benefit St. Jude's Childrens' Research Hospital on Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13 at Galaxy Park, the Club's airfield just outside of Cape Girardeau.

According to Brian Seyer and Daniel Cook, event coordinators, over $2,000 was raised during the benefit. Fourty-plus fliers representing clubs from Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Texas flew electric, gas and nitro planes and helicopters to thrill a crowd of spectators.

A large number of sponsors from not only the area but nationwide as well, made contributions of hobby-related goods that were raffled off among the pilots and spectators alike.

The club hosted a fish fry for all members and guest pilots. The organization hopes to make this an annual event.
