Silverwalk Hounds finds a Safe Harbor

Shiloh, long term resident of Silverwalk and self appointed neighborhood Beagle

I want to share that as of April 6, 2010, Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary in Jackson, MO added Silverwalk Hounds, a Beagle and hound sanctuary in Cape Girardeau County, to its 501c3, MO licensed animal rescue/sanctuary. Silverwalk will function as a "small division" of Safe Harbor, maintaining its present location near Cape Rock as well as its emphasis on adult hounds and senior dogs. Both sanctuaries are licensed by MO Dept. of Ag. With Silverwalk as part of Safe Harbor, it, too, is now tax exempt and welcomes, as we always have, donations, foster homes and adopters for our wonderful dogs. Unlike Safe Harbor, Silverwalk does not have cats. Silverwalk's website is at Silverwalk Hounds. Silverwalk's blog is Dog Blessed @ Silverwalk. We work hard for our animals which includes collaborating with other local & regional shelters such as HSSEMO, Caruthersville as well as pet businesses Petco and locally owned Busch Pet Products. Three Silverwalk board members are/cont. as Safe Harbor board members: Alice Wybert, director of Safe Harbor, Courtney Cotner and Stacy Busch-Heisserer, owner of Busch Pet Products.

Silverwalk has been featured on KFVS with Mary Ann Maloney and in the SE MIssourian print edition with Sam Blackwell and the Deed of the Week. I write and solicit contributors to the online pet blog "Perspective on Pets."
