Dr. Paul Jud Kirk Jr., 86, of St. Louis died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Alexian Brothers Lansdowne Village in St. Louis.

He was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Shawnee, Okla., son of Paul Jud and Moddie Gibson Kirk. He and Ernestine Carr were married July 24, 1947, in Oklahoma.

Kirk was a music professor at Southeast Missouri State University from 1967 to 1986. He then taught music 15 years at Maryville University in St. Louis.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force Band during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruth Kirk of Mustang, Okla., Jean (Richard Baca) Kirk of El Cerrito, Calif.; a sister, Ellen Vanderslice of Dallas; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Kratochvil, Allison (Chris) Pappas, Michael (Marisa) McNeely; four great-grandchildren, Grace, Ashlyn, Nathaniel and Anna; nieces, Jane Thomas and Marilyn Kilgore; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church, 4501 Westminster Place in St. Louis. Private interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
