Clifton Floyd "Cliff" Denny, 97, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Mount Erie, Ill., died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born April 12, 1908, in Mount Erie, son of Noah and Barbara Kantzer Denny. He and Wilma Keyser were married Nov. 1, 1938, in Portland, Ind.
Denny was a sprint car driver and owner. He opened a car dealership, developed land in Florida and farmed. He was a charter member of the Winchester Speedway Old-Timers Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dana Underwood of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Veda Madding of Olney, Ill.; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, Ill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with David Rigg officiating. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery at Mount Erie.
