Monday, May 17, 2010
More than 30 years ago, Advance, Mo., native Dean Riley moved to Fruitland to make his trip to work at Procter & Gamble a shorter commute. In 1978, less than five years after moving into a new community, Riley found his calling and joined the Fruitland Fire Protection District as a firefighter. In addition to firefighter training, Riley trained to become a certified first responder, as the volunteer district responds to both fire and medical calls. Over time, Riley was promoted to captain, then to assistant chief and in 2004, became chief of the department. Riley says being a part of the Fruitland fire crew is important to him and he's proud to help people in times of great need.
