SIKESTON, Mo. -- Law enforcement was out in full force doing some "spring cleaning" Tuesday morning, arresting subjects for a variety of warrants, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported.

Twenty-one Scott County warrants, the majority for drugs, were executed beginning just after 6 a.m., with all suspects in custody -- some already at other facilities -- just after 8 a.m. With additional arrests, a total 25 individuals were taken into custody.

"This was a small one," said Chief Drew Juden. Also he noted this was one of the most successful roundups in recent times.

"We arrested everyone we set out to arrest and took a dangerous weapon off the street," he said.

Also in conjunction with the roundup, two search warrants were served, at 112 Fifth St. and 410 Wallace. Two subjects were arrested on Fifth Street and one on Wallace, all for drug-related charges. Names of these subjects were being withheld Wednesday morning pending the filing of formal charges.

While a warrant was served on Petty Street, an additional subject was arrested when he was found in possession of narcotics. Also while officers searched for a wanted subject at 840 Ruth, apartment B, an illegal firearm -- a sawed off shotgun -- was located and a subject taken into custody. Those suspects names were also being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

Assisting DPS in the roundup were officers with the Scott and New Madrid county sheriff's departments, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, SEMO Drug Task Force and the National Guard Raid Unit, which hovered above the homes in helicopters.

The Raid Unit is on hand to assist in the case of any foot or vehicle pursuits, said DPS officials. "They have the best vantage point," said Juden.
