A spectacular crow-sized black woodpecker with a flaming red crest, and has a red mustache. Found in my backyard.

Congratulations on capturing this great picture of a Pileated Woodpecker. I have tried for years to be able to get close enough to take a picture of this elusive bird!! Dee

These birds really are facinating to observe, and what a voice they have. They seem to be making a comeback so we must be doing something right.

Great Photo! Every once in while, one of these monsters stops by, landing on the light pole outside my house, and of course, never staying long enough for a photo.

They appear to have no interest in the bird seed that draws their cousins in for a snack. Probably just as well, this guy's landing would probably take the feeder right off the side of the shed!
