Redhawk player up for top award

On behalf of everyone associated with the Redhawk baseball program and entire Southeast Missouri State University Department of Athletics, I would like to thank you for all your support this season.

As you may know, our senior All-American catcher, Jim Klocke, is one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. This honor is based on four criteria: classroom, character, community and competition. I'm proud to say that Jim is the first Southeast baseball player being considered for this prestigious award.

That being said, we need you to make a difference.

Nationwide voting will determine the recipient of the award, which will be announced in June at the NCAA College World Series in Omaha. I strongly encourage you to vote for Jim throughout this process. Fans can vote once a day online at http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/baseball_2010/, or by text messaging BASEBALL to 74567 until May 31. Fan balloting counts for one-third of the total with the remaining two-thirds determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members.

I'd like to say that Jim has spent four years working to achieve something as special as this. He is a true ambassador of our program and represents Southeast Missouri State University and this community at the highest level. Let's rally behind him.

Thanks again for your support.

MARK HOGAN, Head Baseball Coach, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau
