Sowers raises a bunch of cash from Hollywood and New York City

and almost none of it came from the 8th Congressional District

I'm shocked...

well, not really.

I mean, we're talking about a guy who sold off all his stuff (luxury Volvo) and bought a dog and a truck and decided to run for Congress.

Emerson raised almost half her money on the last day of the quarter? Heck of a day. Is that a typo, a miracle, or what?

This news, if true, is amazing to me. I figured Jo Ann could easily use her popularity, Republican party connections, and political action committee contributions to outraise Tommy.

If you notice, Tommy is using Bob Parker's line about Jo Ann voting for bailouts. This must be resonating or Tommy's political advisors wouldn't have brought it up.

Tommy Sowers was in the military for 11 years and fought for his country during 3 times in the war zone. He has worked hard to build a campaign and that requires he raise money which he has proved he can do and so far do better than incumbent Joanne Emerson. He is dedicated and willing to fight for 8th District Missourians. He is a "true and upright person" in my book. He drives a truck and has a dog and hunts, so what? Let's talk about real issues like how we get jobs back into this area and get people working again.

BTW, Brown Shoe went offshore and left thousands of people unemployed throughout the 8th District.

I too believe as you that Sowers will fight for the 8th district but in a different manner as you may believe. His objectives are pure socialistic and will eventually offer free healthcare to all. I spent some time questioning Canadians & New Yorkers and for the most part I found they aren't worth the sweat off my X?Z's. But, there are a few good folks from those area's. They informed me they had to enter the U.S. to receive any major surgery that was life threatening due to the socialistic programs that has no respect for the human being. Now honey, that is a real issue. As for Emerson, she needs replaced but not by Hanoi Tommy. I hope our tax dollars aren't feeding you also?

Well, missourikid, just what exactly do you appreciate in life? Unemployment lines? But your wonderful JAE voted against unemployment benefits. Perhaps you appreciate a huge government, escalating national debt... because all those things came into being under GOP administrations. You possibly appreciate a military to keep you safe from the boogie men? Yet, you slander someone that served in that military. You ramble on about someone being 'against' the constitution yet Sowers taught the constitution at West Point and at Rolla. I for one appreciate Obama's efforts to secure our nuclear material from terrorists. Reagan attempted to do that during his terms but no one has made an effort since then. BUT Reagan also raised taxes several times so theoretically he should be vilified by the Repub Right rather than revered. I appreciate the effort to give those without health insurance some peace of mind. It is a terrible thing to lose your job AND your health insuance when you have a family. And, when all our jobs in the 8th went overseas that was a frequent occurrence. And under whose watch did those jobs leave? Jo Ann Emerson, who voted against health care reform, chosing to ignore the plight of her constituents in order to 'go along' with the party of NO.

People like you, missourikid, crank out the same old rhetoric... NEGATIVE mouthings... rather than seeking positive, concrete suggestions as to how to get our jobs back and to make life a wee bit better for those in the 8th District. Little Tommy, please please please tell everyone what your positions are. Tell us why you have so few donors from the 8th district and most of the ones that you do have are your family (although I notice a few are absent, I wonder why???). Why do your liberal friends want you to win this race? I guess you look to them because you can't get people to even show up for events in your home town. Again, you are emabarrassing us. I don't know the financial situation of Tommy Sowers' family. What I do know is his wallet did not protect him in two combat deployments. He put his *** on the line and the rest of us should thank him for it.

And then, why don't you try talking to Americans who have been unable to get health care insurance at any cost due to pre-existing conditions. Around 98,000 of them in Missouri. Get some facts and not just do hate mongering by using names and labels. I hope that all Missourians and Americans have affordable health care in the next few years. I'll vote for any candidate that supports that. The next big thing is JOBS and who will work to get more jobs in the 8th district. JAE has been abysmal at protecting jobs. Just look at all the empty factory buildings from town to town. We need good, sustainable, replacement jobs for our district.

I haven't seen anyone on here "denigrating" little Tommy. His service to this country is admiral. It does not, however, mean he has a clue how to represent Missouri in Congress. That is obvious by the only position he has taken, which is YES to Pelosi and Obamacare. And as far as all this banter about jobs...WHAT IS LITTLE TOMMY's PLAN?? That is a simple question. Yet, all he can do is tell us how hard he worked out or how much he ate or how he is growing his army in Kansas City or St. Louis. By the way, Jo Ann Emerson voted absentee here the two elections before she announced her candidacy. It would have been rather difficult for her to vote in person considering that she had not set foot in Missouri for several years even though her husband was our sitting U.S. Representative. The Eighth District means nothing more to her than a ticket to Congress. You think she has a desire to represent us? She has a desire to represent any of the 435 congressional districts in America that would elect her.

Further, she votes consistently with the party of NO to the detriment of her constituents. Does she even have an independent thought on representation? Actually, the question should be: WHAT have you done, Congress woman, to bring jobs back to 8th or solve the health care problem or any of the myriad other problems facing her constituents. Sadly, the answer (in truth) would be 'nothing'.

You further blast Sowers for supposedly having so 'few donors from the 8th District'... while neglecting to mention that Emerson draws the bulk of her campaign money from lobbyists OUTSIDE of the 8th District. Afraid of the truth, Real Rolla?
