Cape's Wildest Rodeo set for this weekend
Cape's Wildest Rodeo is set for Friday and Saturday nights in Arena Park.
The fifth annual event raises funds to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Action begins 6 p.m. each day with the mutton busting. The grand entry is scheduled for 7 each night with performances to follow. The rodeo will feature nine events with competitors from the Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association and the American Rodeo Cowboys Association taking aim at $4,000 added. A clown contest also is planned for Saturday.
"It's one of the first rodeos of the year so everyone is excited about getting out," said organizer Greg Sparkman.
Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children under 6.
Heuring aces No. 6 at Bent Creek
Darren Heuring scored a hole in one Friday at Bent Creek Golf Course during the Notre Dame Golf Tournament.
Heuring aced the par-3 sixth hole, which played at 175 yards. Witnesses were Matt Vollink, Dan Buerck and S. Scharenborg.
Skeeters Boys tourney this weekend in Chaffee
The first Skeeters Boys/Bank of Missouri men's softball tournament will be Friday and Saturday in Chaffee.
The event will be a classes D and E tournament for 10 teams. Teams will use their own .47 core balls. The tournament will feature ASA rules, a 1-1 count to start, no courtesy foul and one courtesy runner per inning.
The entry deadline is today and the fee is $110.

Burnett medalist in Jaycees ladies league
Sissy Burnett was medalist Tuesday in the Cape Jaycees Ladies Golf at the Cape Jaycees Municipal Golf Course.
Bonnie Miller won the B flight and Carolyn Blechle won the play of the day, which was longest putt on No. 9.
Lil Angle and Linda Williams had the low putts.
Southeast coach on top golf team at booster event
The team of Rick Sauer, Pat O'Loughlin, David Cantrell, Joe Radetic, Mark Kohlfeld and Southeast Missouri State baseball coach Mark Hogan shot a 14-under-par 56 to win Class I in the 22nd annual Southeast Missouri Redhawks Booster Club golf tournament Monday at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
The event was sponsored by Kohlfeld Companies and raised money for the Southeast athletic program.
Class II was won by the team of Cord Polen, Marvin Adams Jr., Chris Marchi, J.P. Hall, Tom Dunivant and Ben Goodier, which finished at 61.
Twenty-one teams participated in the tournament.
Gators Swim Team captures small clubs title
The Gators Swim Team won its third consecutive Ozark Small Club Championship recently in University City, Mo., scoring 749 points to top the eight-team field. The Hazelwood HEAT was second with 427 points.
