Emerson's field director can sling mud all he wants, but nobody is buying the Pelosi argument, other than the lemmings that will vote for Jo Ann no matter how bad things here get.

Sowers has taken tons of positions, in op-eds, articles, and interviews. Team Emerson doesn't want to talk about that, though. Emerson's folks are scared because they know folks down here have a lot more in common with sowers than a washed-up lobbyist like Emerson.

Armchair quarterbacking about all the healthcare reforms you have failed to enact in 13 years but wish you had isn't taking "positions". It's a sad eulogy of a waste of SEMO's time while in DC. And that clock is running out.

Absolutely no surprise! I'm not particularly an Emerson fan since I voted Constitution Party in '08. But, Sowers is a socialist. I will probably vote for Emerson this time around just to keep Sowers out. We don't need another DSA congressman in D.C.

If I were a betting man, I probly would not be betting on the underdog in this race. The sign of a district being satisfied with its incumbent can be realized by the caliber of the people who file against said incumbent. Enough said!!!

Yes, Sowers is a socialist like so many Green Berets and West Point instructors. Was on a vacation for a few years in Kosovo and Iraq.

By the way, how many years did Congresswoman Emerson live in the district after her time with the Insurance Association in DC after growing up in Bethesda, MD?

This race is over. Not only is noone nationally paying attention but there were longtime Democratic incumbents who were scared to death to vote for this thing. Tommy came out of the closet way too early on this issue and now has to live with it.

As was previously mentioned, this is the same Washington muck that we're all so ****** off about.

This sure as hell isnt putting people before politics, it is simply a low political attack. Just like her protest on the House floor, Emerson should be ashamed...this is pick and choose politics. They hear what they want to hear, to make it fit their storyline.

You say "we can do better than this". Here's what I've learned about your apparent idol Tommy Sowers.

- He hasn't lived in Missouri since high school ... some 14+ years ago....until he decides to move back 7 months ago...just to run for Congress.

- He sells an expensive, luxury SUV prior to moving back to rural MO so he can buy an egocentric truck and a dog....because pricey, European SUVs don't play well...but trucks do.

- He publicly stated that he supports Pelosi-care or Obama-care...which a majority of MO's 8th District opposes.

- He then criticizes the current member of Congress for exercising her right to free speech for publicly voicing opposition to Pelosi-care....which may I remind you that a majority of the 8th District opposes.

- He's an avid Duke fan ?????? Really......Duke?

- And well, that's about it....

Does that really sound better to you? I may not agree with every vote that Emerson makes, but she thinks through her votes, votes her district and works hard for her constituents. And that sounds a lot better than someone who thinks Missourians are so naive that all it takes is a truck and a dog to win an election.

As a Rolla native I can honestly say that I am ashamed to say little Tommy Sowers is from here. Not only has he aligned himself with the freedom killing liberals from New York and San Francisco, but he has also made the moronic decision to attack OUR Congresswoman rather than take a position. No wonder his own family won't support him. I'm proud of the work Jo Ann has done for this town and this district. Ego maniacs like little tommy come and go, but real leaders like Jo Ann will always win the day.

The Emerson camp better start thinking about making it through the primary. After months of traveling the district I am finding that Emerson's support has been drying up like a mud puddle in August.

She has supported bailouts, clunkers, earmarks, social justice, out of control spending, job killing CAFTA, and it seems she has just realized that her district has an illegal alien problem after 14 years.

Also, after 5 years of personally fighting the outrageous Animal ID program and getting no help from Emerson, she now is fighting it too after I blasted her in Dexter about it.

Emerson won't have to worry about Sowers, she better start worrying about the primary. The incumbents are out this year.

Sowers has supported Obamacare and loves liberal democrats in New York and San Francisco. Not a good year for that on the federal level. [if there ever was a good year for that..]

Emerson needs to retire from this. She owes too many special interests and can no longer represent the true interests of this district. People are waking up to that now.

I am the only candidate that has run a business in the 8th district for 33 years and know how the people in this district really feel about the issues. I clearly state my position on scores of issues on my website because I want people to know what I stand for. I am not about fooling anyone about who I am.

Yes, I have been asked to leave the Farm Bureau board for exposing Farm Bureau's presidents support of NAIS and they had to keep me from telling the members about it at the annual meeting.

I have proven I will stand up and take the heat. Who do you want to represent you in Washington? Someone with a spine or someone that caves when it gets tough?

People here want conservative representation that will get Washington out of their lives and cut the spending and taxing, and they want someone with the guts to take that message to Washington, I will do that.

Larry Bill was in the Air Force fighting for our freedom, Poplarproud. He has a few other things going for him over your candidate. He is a conservative that thinks that statist like Pelosi, Reed and Obama are to be resisted instead of obeyed. He has no ties to out of state liberal interests like Sowers or Washington lobbyists like Emerson.

The problems are the result o the people we have elected to operate our government. Consistently, each and every one is a politician first, foremost, and always. They will turn on you after elected. The ones that are truely representatives get shoved aside by the politics. If you want to change government, change the people running it, all of them. Lets finally replace politicians with representatives. So far, Larry Bill and Bob Parker are the only real, grass roots candidates we have in Missouri's 8th District. Sowers has proven he is not genuine. Emerson has had her tenure. It is time for someone new. I would prefer to vote "for" someone instead of "against" the other.

You know, this whole conversation seems really low. I admit, I don't like the bill that has just passed. Not because it provides health care to more people, but because it still leaves me paying many different CEO's hundred's of thousands of dollars to do what one payer source would do much less expensively. We could pay for far more health care if we didn't have so much "administrative" costs. You who don't work in health care don't have a clue how much trouble it is to get a medicine paid for or get a procedure prior authorized-not just by medicaid. Every insurance company has their own set of rules. They are costly to the patient, not the insurance company.

Did I vote for Emerson last time? No, I left it blank. I didn't feel I could vote for either person. Will I vote for her again? No. The few times I have bothered to communicate with her, she responds without really reading what I have sent her. Telling my why she is right and I am wrong. Not interested in being told that. Sorry, Jo Ann. I have valid beliefs based on years working in the health care system. I truly believe everyone has a right to health care. I believe insurance companies-whom Jo Ann supports-are strictly in the business to refuse care and make money. Their interests are not those of the patient. Was her behavior appropriate in a congressional setting? No. She should be respectful of everyone, regardless of their beliefs. Her childish behavior was inappopriate.

Poplar - I was not criticizing his service and you very well understand that. Many of my family members currently serve and/or have served in the military - and it is a very noble endeavor. Something to be commended.

My criticism of Mr. Sowers is that he moved back to Missouri simply to run for Congress. Isn't there value in living here, learning about one's city, one's county, one's district prior to running for office???? Shouldn't he be committed to serving his community and understanding local issues prior to throwing his hat in the ring? He hadn't even been to all of the district's counties prior to announcing his candidacy!

If Mr. Sowers had known his district, he would not have come out in support of Pelosi-care. I suppose he did know enough about his district to know a European luxury SUV wouldn't play well...but is that something to be commended???

His service to country gets an A++ in my book. The way he's served this district so far in this campaign gets a failing grade....

Guess Tommy Sowers couldn't convince the Democratic Party to buy in to his campaign even after all the nice things he said about the healthcare bill, cap and trade, and the money he is raising from NYC.

This race reminds me of a Jimmy Johnson Nascar speeding down the track toward the checkered flag and the only other things on the track are two guys on bicycles and one guy chasing behind with a petition in his hand yelling "wait for me." I am getting bored and will be glad when the cup is awarded. Yawn!!!

What Emerson camp? I'm a Democrat. But untruths don't work. Why doesn't Cleaver demand an apology? Simple. While he and Emerson disagreed on health care, they work together on many initiatives. Maybe more importantly, I've been told that Emerson was not at the rally and did not wave any signs on Saturday, so she did not incite anything. Maybe that is why Politico changed its blog and deleted all reference to Jo Ann, and the Washington Post print edition deleted all reference to Emerson inciting anything on Saturday. Rep Frank confirmed these facts to the press today. Again, instead of hurling trash, maybe everyone should calm down and take positions on the issues. Sowers' vacuous campaign only perpetuates the same hysteria he supposedly opposes. Frank and Cleaver are seasoned politicians. Had Jo Ann done what Sowers claims, I'm sure they could ask for apologies without Sowers' help. Its awful quiet out there, Tommy. Don't engage in hysteria and untruths just to raise a few bucks.

Too bad she wasn't at the rally. I would have had more respect for her if she were. These rallies are signs of how badly our citizens feel we are being treated by the Washington princes and princesses that are running things right now. They SHOULD be at theses rallies learning what we think and trying to respond.
