Account manager with The Daniel and Henry Company
WHERE SHE'S BEEN: Wicks, 30, is originally from Green Bay, Wis., and now lives in Cape Girardeau. She is married to husband Jason Wicks; they have a two-year-old German shepherd named Captain Nealie. Wicks has a bachelor's degree from University of Hawaii at Manoa in Asian studies; and a master's from Arcadia University in international peace and conflict resolution. She has been working in insurance for two years.
WHERE SHE IS GOING: "I hope to be an active member of the community working on issues I find important, such as environmental awareness, sustainability, renewable energy and recycling. I hope that through education I can help the community see how important it is to take care of the environment that we live in. Reduce, reuse and recycle. I see my future long-term with The Daniel and Henry Company providing high level customer service and risk management in employee benefits."
WHY SHE WAS CHOSEN: "She is one of the most active members of our community who is making a difference," wrote Rob Johnson. "She is a young, influential person who is positively impacting the Cape area regarding 'green' issues. She dedicates countless hours to work with various groups to help them establish and maintain recycling programs. She also spends time providing community education and awareness. Her never-ending supply of energy is inspiring, because in addition to her volunteer time, she spends at least 60 hours per week at her day job."
Jill's community involvement: Southeast Missouri Climate Protection Initiative, League of Women Voters, Chamber Young Professionals, KRCU, Missouri Coalition for the Environment, Girardeau Goes Green Advisory Board and Waste Management Focus group. Was most recently asked to be an outreach coordinator in the Cape Girardeau region for AmerenUE's renewable energy program P.U.R.E. Power.
