Cape County to purchase 20 computers
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
Cape Girardeau County will accept bids due April 1 for the purchase of 20 computers in preparation for an upgrade of software to process personal and real estate property information.
At Monday's Cape Girardeau County Commission meeting, director of information systems Eric McGowen presented his proposal for the acquisition of 15 computers for the collector's office, four computers for the assessor's office and one computer for the highway department.
Once installation and training is complete, the new software will allow better interfacing between the assessor and collector and other government agencies. The software in the assessor's office keeps track of assessment data and mapping information while the collector's portion of the program tracks the processing and collecting of taxes.
McGowen said the computers would be purchased by the collector's office from its tax maintenance fund, the assessor's office from its new equipment fund and the highway department from its new equipment fund.
