PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The arrest of a 20-year-old St. Mary, Mo., man has cleared all of the thefts and burglaries in Perry County so far this year, according to a news release from Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf.

Jacob D. Berkbuegler was arrested Sunday on a Perry County warrant for one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of felony stealing and 11 counts of misdemeanor stealing.

"Mr. Berkbuegler is responsible for every reported theft and burglary from this year," Schaaf said in the news release, "and with his arrest we are at a 100% clearance rate for the year."

In a phone interview later Monday, Schaff said many of the burglaries took place in southeastern Perry County, where Berkbuegler allegedly stole miscellaneous items from vehicles and private residences.

"We were able to get most of the stuff back and returned to the rightful owners," Schaff said.

Berkbuegler was being held in the Perry County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond Monday morning.
