LET'S get this straight. The bond issue for schools is a form of a loan. The bond issue is for $40 million. I will gladly vote for this bond issue if the school system shows responsibility like that required of any of us and comes up with a 15 percent down payment. $6 million should be saved before another penny is borrowed. I'm tired of the 100 percent financing.
Today's music
JUST as warm fruit salad isn't wine, a lot of the music played today is just sound.
Back to work
OK, girls, we've had our fun. We stuck it to the Bushies in 2008, but it's 2010. We've got to clean up the mess we made getting even. It was a blowout party, and we had a great time. Now it's time to come to our senses and get on with rebuilding our economy and putting our house back in order. We all know socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried so many times in so many places, and it has failed miserably every time. We don't need to go that far. Time to grow up.
Sage warning
REPUBLICANS. take note of this good advice: "If we finally fail in this great and glorious contest, it will be by bewildering ourselves in groping for the middle way." (John Adams, 1776)
Like the gardener
IF the Republicans could have named anyone to help them take over the Senate and House and win the presidency in 2012, they couldn't have picked anyone better than Barack Obama. I've never seen anything like what's going on now. Obama reminds me of Forrest Gump or that guy in the movie "Being There" where people thought a gardener knew what he was doing and took his advice. At the end of the movie, someone said, "You really are a gardener, aren't you." Peter Sellers portrayed the gardener.
Broken strategy
READING the article, "Judge: Missouri following broken strategy." I can attest to the truth of what the judge said. My son has been in and out of jail since he was 17 years old. He's 28 now. The only thing inmates learn is how to be worse. My son has had a violent history, smokes a little dope and does a little drinking, but he gets shoved in with violent inmates who teach each other how to do bad things. I hope people will listen.

Back to work ....maybe it's time we elected a woman for president . not necessarily Sarah Palen or Hillary Clinton , but someone who knows how to keep their house in order ...let's face it , most women run the day-to-day affairs of the common American home--the budget , etc....
The "son has had a violent history.....but he gets shoved in with violent inmates..."
Seems about right to me....how about you?
Yes I agree! The penal institutions in this Country are a joke! There is NO attempt at rehabilitation what so ever. The system does not work and needs a serious overhaul. They are nothing but encarseration camps where the criminals control the inside and its goings on.
Perhaps its time to privatize the penal institutions in this Country since we all know the Governments are not able to operate ANYTHING correctly. JMO
Our current prison system doesn't rehabilitate, instead it's a finishing school to make mediocre criminals into better criminals.
Programs that are designed to help inmates understand their own behavior somehow irritate the publics' sense of moral outrage. It's easy to say "throw them into a deep, dark hole" until it's yourself or a member of your own family behind bars.
This might be off the subject, but have you ever seen this young woman,

Turn the prisons back into work farms. 16 hours a day chopping weeds will make their "mind right".
Down payment, You know even less about the in-s and out-s of a school district bond issue than I do (and I do not much).
Broken strategy, Too bad your son didn't learn what behaviors were acceptable in our society before he was 17.
Dog gone cyber trolls...typo...
(and I do not **know** much).
Recall some "young man" some years ago who keyed (scratched) a car in Singapore. His punishment, in spite of an international uproar, was a public canning. It's a fair bet he never did that again, at least in Singapore. Maybe we should copy them.
Take these young brats down to the courthouse on a Saturday morning for a public canning with the admonition to prepare to be back the following Saturday morning for any repeated offenses.
Barbaric? And how would you describe the young brats offenses.
Voyager,
And if the parents put up a fuss..... maybe bring them in on Saturday morning also???
It would probably stop some of the repeat offenses. And on top of that it would be good for tourism. Wouldn't need to spend that $40,000 for knowing where to place signs, there wouldn't be any need of signs. Everybody would know where Cape was.
If he didn't want to do the "time", he shouldn't have done the crime. Kind of like conducting a survey about the death penalty. Many are conducted in prisons and those on death row are asked if they believed the death penalty is a deterrent to the crime of murder. Gee, do think any of them would say yes.

Ummm, would you care to refer me to where you got that info.
For all those proposing caning, how did you and your generation turn out so well without such strict punishments.
Producer1
the farm i grew up on prefered to use a switch instead of caning...a lilac or hickory switch is a lesson well learned..
Rick, a nice green switch off the peach tree works pretty well, too. Trust me!
Today's music- Just as Barbie shoes don't fit the dog, not everyone's opinion is the same. (I think my analogy made just as much sense as yours.)
Like the Gardener- How *exactly* does Obama remind you of Forrest Gump?!?

Nice!
Broken strategy,
It is amazing that you can say with a straight face that your son: has been in and out of jail for 11 years, smokes a LITTLE DOPE, does a LITTLE DRINKING, and has had a VIOLENT HISTORY, but gets shoved in with violent criminals. NEWS FLASH: He is one of the violent criminals others get shoved in with. He should be considered an habitual with more than three strikes and incarcerated for the rest of his life to protect the public at large.
Caning may have helped him 11 years ago but it is too late now. Your support of his behavior is a disgrace and you continue to abet his actions.
Gah! I read the news in the morning, and this is the second day in a row with no new update. Throws me off routine just a smidge.
Balmy its people like you who are the PROBLEM!
Your comment is pure anger and has no merit in this debate. How do you know its too late?
Sounds as if your an expert on the penal institutions. Or maybe your just another mouth with nothing important to say. Yeah, that must be it.
Can anyone provide a link to the article? MDOC is making efforts such as the Missouri Re Entry Program, but would like to read more specifics on the complaints.
all_i_hear_is_blah_blah
what scandal ?
There are no charges in the "scandal".
Just because charges have not been filed YET...doesn't mean they will not be.
With that said...I have no information on THIS alleged scandal. Please remember...even IF charges are filed, in this country one is innocent until proven guilty.
Noting...most school districts' have a "moral code" in their contracts. Thus, just because someone is dismissed, it does NOT mean they have broken a law.
Down Payment - I actually think this might be a good idea, but what it may also do is penalize the students because the administration didn't have the forethought to look to future needs of the students.
Today's Music - It seems every generation has it's own preference of music, I'm quite sure that at one point Ogg the Elder grunted to Bambam the young "In my day we knew real music, banging rocks together". It will continue forever... Also, it's horrible hearing a band you really like suddenly being played on a classic rock station, makes me think, man I'm Ogg.
Broken Strategy - Who'da thought they'd place violent offenders with other violent offenders?
Six speak outs printed of which three are politically slanted...
It is a felony for a teacher to have sexual relations with a student.
so i guess when your son was younger than 17 he listened to every good piece of advice you gave him? so what happened? is your son so easily corrupted? or was it you who corrupted him? and now U want to blame the system. makes alot of sense. whatever happened to taking personal accountability of your own actions? dont do the crime if you cant do the time. but dont blame someone for your shortcomings either.
Why do gas stations all have their gas price at $2.519. You can go to the small towns around Cape and buy gas cheaper. Scott city had one station selling for $2.399, Delta was $2.469. People should pick out one supplier in Cape and boycott
them until they lower their gas price. I no longer buy any gas in the city of Cape Girardeau and if other people would do the same they would see lower prices. Wake up people unless you have more money than sense.
Greywolf,
First, I do not believe you can judge if I have merit in this debate. My comment is not based on anger. NEWSFLASH TO YOU!!! I am probably as qualified as you and maybe more so. My years in law enforcement have given me some experience with these habituals. I am not an expert like you perhaps. I learned long ago that the definition of expert is: X--(has been)Pert (drip).
You may have more experience than I do. If so I respect your opinion but disagree with it. If you do not, maybe you are the one with no merit and nothing important to say. That can be decided by those that read the posts.
