High school roundup: Casasola leads Tigers to win over Poplar Bluff

Kevin Casasola scored 16 points and Andrew Williams added 12 as Central knocked off host Poplar Bluff 50-45 in boys basketball action Saturday.

The Tigers used a 16-8 advantage in the second quarter to pull out the win.

James Lane added 11 points for Central (12-6), which returns to action Tuesday when it plays Jackson at the Show Me Center.

Ryan Marble won the title at 171 pounds to help Jackson finish fourth in the eight-team tournament.

Codi Byrd (103), Levi Hobeck (145) and Adam Kirchdorfer (160) earned runner-up finishes for the Indians.

Jordan Reisenbichler took third at 112.

Fourth-place finishers for the Indians were Levi Rayburn (119), Josh Scott (125), Aaron Delph (130), Mitchell Hazelwood (135), Justin Sievers (140), Michael Riney (189) and Mitchell Montgomery (215).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Delta 62, Shawnee 37

After just a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats outscored Shawnee 22-7 in the second for a home win.

Taylor Smith hit five 3-pointers for 21 points, while Tori Burton added 15 points for the Bobcats (14-5).

Kendra Burnett and Machela VanGennip both netted 10 points in the win.
